We currently partner with L'Arcada Camp, located in the beautiful valley of Sant Miquel de Campmajor, Girona (northeastern Spain), in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains. L'Arcada Camp is the only campground in Spain that is owned and operated by a Christian organization.
Each summer, for two weeks, the camp uses American sports as a powerful tool to draw children and teens in, giving them the chance to hear, see, and personally experience Jesus Christ. Many of the young people who attend have never before encountered the gospel. For those who do come from Christian homes, L’Arcada provides a rare and treasured opportunity to connect and grow in faith alongside other believers their own age.

Why Spain?
Did you know?
55-60% of Spaniards consider themselves Catholic however,
Only 18-22% are practing catholics
35-40% of Spaniards identify as non-religious (agnostic, atheist, or non-believer)
Evangelicals make up 0.4-2% of the population
Spain is one of the most difficult countries to evangelize:
Franco (1939–1975) reinforced the idea that “Spain is Catholic, and Protestantism is a foreign threat.” That stigma hasn’t fully disappeared, especially among older generations.
Many Spaniards believe that converting to Christianity betrays their Spanish identity
Spain is the least reached Spanish speaking country in the world at about 1.5%
Over 7000 villages lack any evangelical presence
Approximately 25% of Spain's people groups are unreached
Most churches have tiny congregations of 30-50 people
Few trained pastors: Most are lay pastors due to small congregation sizes. The government considers them self-employed, affecting their pensions and social security
Spain has laws against outdoor Bible distribution or evangelism

Currently, to host both flag and tackle football camps at L’Arcada, we must rent a field down the mountain. Building a dedicated football field on the Camp L’Arcada property would dramatically increase our opportunities for outreach and evangelism. To date, no field in Spain has ever been constructed specifically for American football. Our vision is for this to become the very first American football field in the country and the official home for Catalan American football.

Football in Spain
(Commonly asked questions)
Yes, it is American football (gridiron).
The Spaniards do not want Americans coaching their soccer (fútbol), but American football is a completely different story. It’s still a niche sport in Spain, yet the players who love it are incredibly passionate and eager to be trained and coached by experienced Americans.
Yes, they play full-contact tackle football with pads and helmets.
Flag football is also popular and growing, but both men and women compete in fully equipped, traditional tackle football as well.
The athletic ability here is outstanding, but most players and even local coaches are still new to the technical side of American football. That’s exactly where we step in!
